Commonwealth North Symposium

Date:

Sat, 10/07/2017 - 9:00am

CWN invites you to an all-day symposium to examine seven frontiers Alaskans have worked to advance since the Alaska Purchase and continue to advance today.

In 1867, some Americans derided the Alaska purchase as “Seward’s Folly." This year, CWN celebrates 150 years of Alaska under the American flag with a series of events and publications showing not only that the purchase was “worth it” but also showing a vision of further contributions the people of this state can make to U.S. and global economics, security, knowledge and culture.

With a combination of guest speakers and breakout work sessions, this symposium will attempt two things: first, show highlights of our history and our current contribution to the US; and second, identify the visions today's Alaskans have of what the state's future path and contributions will be.
